This two-bedroom apartment has been lovingly restored to reflect its history as well as the modernity and vibrancy that surround its downtown setting.
The attractive, liveable space is rich in character and heritage. The renovation work involved tearing down the walls and the mezzanine ceiling while restoring the original windows. The original teak stairs remain for the second half of the climb to the new mezzanine, which also features teak as well as pyinkado timber. The first floor was laid out using carbonised strand-woven bamboo.
Meanwhile, a choice of tasteful custom-made and reclaimed furniture were sourced locally and laid out as part of the contemporary design. The recycled timber offers charm and durability but is also the more environmentally friendly option. Wood is set against exposed bricks, giving the colonial-era home a warm and comfortable vibe. Overall, it stands out as one of the most stylish and cozy properties in the heart of Yangon.
